IC Information;
Character Name;
"Goofy" (George G. Geef)
Canon; Kingdom Hearts/Disney Mash-Up
Canon Point; Kingdom Hearts II in Hollow Bastion (2nd time), after Demyx is defeated and when he gets hit in the head
Age; Adult (Early 30s, with memories spanning approximately 73 years)

House; SIGYN
While Goofy's role in Kingdom Hearts is that of a soldier and typical "tank" from RPGs, this is not what defines him. Three good examples from KH canon would be:
  • 1) Goofy initially goes with Riku when Riku takes the Keyblade from Sora, but changes his mind - ignoring the King's order to "follow the Keyblade wielder" as Donald reminds him - in favor of defending Sora against Riku's attacks. He even says good-bye to Donald. I take this to mean Loyalty is not his personality's cornerstone, rather Friendship and the health/safety of the people he cares for. Goofy knew that defending Sora against Riku would not directly hurt Mickey, Donald, or even Riku; it could only help Sora, which made the action worth it. [KH1]
  • 2) Through re:CoM, he starts losing his memories of recent events, but the process actually distills his personality into exemplary moments of consideration for all people involved in a conflict, even when Sora started acting like a brat. [re:CoM Side 1 7:30 - 9:09] [re:CoM Side 1 0:25 - 5:00] [re:CoM Side 1 6:05 - 6:46] These are my principle examples for placing him in Sigyn House, but if that's not enough...
  • 3) To save his friend and king, Goofy pushes Mickey out of the way and takes a rock to the head - knocking him out so hard that the gang thinks he's dead. [KH2]
Power; Growth
While Healing is certainly a valuable skill, I can only imagine the number of times Goofy will inevitably get caught up in his own plant creations.

Personality;
Goofy is iconic for his clumsy-yet-kind nature, but that was his defining characteristic as a late-20s bachelor, i.e. during his Classic Disney timeframe. The most significant difference that can be seen in the course of Kingdom Hearts canon is that Goofy is actually quite perceptive, wise, or street-smart compared to Sora and Donald. He still lacks a great deal of book-smart intellect, as he stumbles over words or blurts things out altogether, and simply doesn't know plenty of things, especially about technology. I believe this change occurred around the time of the Goof Troop / Goofy Movie arcs - when he became a single father - and continued into his earliest chronological appearance in Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep.

That being said, Goofy has an adventurous spirit. He will try anything once and never lets his skill level (or lack of any skill) get in the way of enjoying his hobbies. Notably, his preferences are for any kind of sport, with a fondness for roller-blading; outdoors-man activities like camping or fishing; and household handyman trades like carpentry, electrical, or painting. More than any one hobby, he loves sharing his hobby with others in step-by-step processes and side-by-side demonstrations. He also became more than decent at cooking, understandable for a single parent. The times when Goofy messes up on anything at all is usually when he is going too fast through the proper steps and misses one. As a side note, he is actually quite fast in general, spinning and sliding around the battlefield or throwing his shield. The biggest mistakes result in his comedic yelp.

Traditionally, Goofy was the leap-before-looking type, but this is another thing that changed recently. In fact, he is often the one to point out to Sora or Donald whatever it is they should probably do first - like knocking before entering, or looking before going into a dark place, etc. This trait evolved out of his becoming a widower and more than a little over-protective of his only (reckless) son. As a result, he tends to be cautiously worried for his friends and perhaps just as concerned about his own life - for if he dies, who else will care for his adolescent child? While he definitely considers Mickey and Donald his best friends and they are all like Uncles to each other's children, it's just not the same thing.

Typical of the core Disney cast, Goofy is very loyal to his friends. This translates in the Kingdom Hearts universe to Goofy's position as the Captain of King Mickey's Royal Knights, but as stated above it is not what defines him. That would be his compassion and kindness for others; he is often the one insisting to Sora or Donald that they should stop to help someone, or worry what will happen if they leave someone alone. Sora has no trouble stepping into a fight to defend someone, but he is sometimes so focused on helping / looking for Riku or Kairi or a villain to aid a perfect stranger. Donald is very mission-driven in looking for King Mickey or accomplishing what was asked of him, so he often sides with Sora in that regard. Goofy doesn't exhibit that problem in the least.

Lastly, Goofy is rarely complimented about anything, but when he is he can get bashful and emit his trademark "gawrsh." He is not shy, however, and can be quite charming when he wants to be. Flirting is unlikely to come up in an RP setting due to having both a late wife and newfound crush on Clarabelle Cow, but who knows!

Log Sample;
Goofy blinked his eyes open, lying on his back and looking up at the ceiling. That was when a person with a clean slate for a face appeared hovering over top of him.

"WAH-AH-OW!"

She looked for all the world like a powerful Nobody, meaning he scrambled away as fast as he could - only to run right into another wall, shield first, then spinning around to face the person.

"Are you a... a..." He stammered, trying to get his bearings.

Thankfully, she was not, and immediately reassured him of that fact, but Goofy was only half paying attention as he looked around and rubbed his head. The last thing he remembered was getting between King Mickey and that giant rock on Hollow Bastion. This place could be on that world, but that didn't explain why his friends weren't around.

She handed him a letter, which he immediately read. From what he could gather, there was something about the fate of this world - which probably wasn't Hollow Bastion - hinging on his presence there. Well, that was definitely important, and worthy of investigating for the sake of the King. Maybe once he looked around, he could find someone who knew about the other worlds and how to get him back to his friends. Or maybe they would find him.

Goofy picked himself up off the ground, dusted himself off, and pocketed the letter. "Well, lead the way, Little Lady! I've gotta lot to do, by the looks o' things." Then he ambled after her, looking at every detail of the amazing architecture as they went.
